Sustainability in Engineering: Improving teaching and learning through online tools and authentic case work in industry and community situations

Department:
Civil Engineering

Course:
Development of a graduate-level CIVL course in Engineering for Sustainable Development

Principal Investigator:
Dr. Thomas Froese

This project will help develop Civil Engineering’s first graduate-level course focusing specifically on sustainable engineering issues. It is well recognized that engineering plays a crucial role in addressing sustainability issues, however there are no online course materials available to meet the demand for professional graduate level programming on sustainability and civil engineering. The project focuses on enabling an interface with graduate students and professionals for meaningful experiential and authentic case study based learning. The project will build upon Engineering and Sustainable Development (CIVL 200) to develop introductory and foundational material adapted for a graduate-level course.
